About us
The British Science Association is a charity that exists to advance the public understanding, accessibility and accountability of the sciences and engineering. Through our annual programme of events and activities we aim to engage and inspire adults and young people. The British Science Association is the only science organisation which is solely devoted to achieving this objective throughout the UK.
Branches are groups of volunteers who meet to organise a wide-variety of science-related events for local public audiences. There are currently around 30 branches nationwide. A Branch is required to have three main officers(Chair, Secretary and Treasurer) but often consist of a number of others. Branches may find that the roles within the branch are quite flexible and it is up to them to decide what these might be. Strong groups have around a dozen members.
The British Science Association branches are key to our success in achieving our key aims. In traditional and innovative ways, British Science Association branches help communicate the excitement of science and help people engage with the many inter-relationships between science and society.
